A Few Thoughts on the Winter Three

So about a month ago I wrote about the three movies that I was looking forward to in the winter movie season. I have now seen them all so I'm going to give you a few thoughts on them. I tried to keep the spoilers down, but if you have not see any of the three and do not like to know to much about a movie before you see it.... just be warned.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1:

Many people that I have talked to said that this was their favorite of all the HP movies. I do not know if its my favorite, but its close. The casting remains good. I think they got most of the main points of the books in. They may have changed a few little things, but you have to in a movie. The one thing that was weird is how they explain that death eater were able to find Harry in the coffee house. Another thing that was different, but good was the little cartoon to explain the story of the deathly hallows. This was a great film and a must for an Harry fan.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader: Dec 10th

Of the three this was my least favorite. It was better than PC, but not as good as TLWAW. They had to do a lot of change to the story, this was due to the way Lewis wrote the story. They took things that maybe a page or two in the book and made it a major plot point. That also put some of the islands together. As well they made temptation a large part of the story that Lewis did. That being said it kept most of Lewis ideas and themes. Simon Pegg was good as Reepicheep and I thought I saw him a one of the deck hands while they were fighting the sea monster. Also Eustace Scrubb was played pretty well, even if they did keep him in his different state for longer that the book did. Over all still worth seeing

TRON: Legacy:

I saw this with our "End of Line" friend and his review will give you a lot of more information (yes we did watch the 1st Tron before). I will say that this movie lived up to its look. From the CGI characters which looked good most of the time (no bad Prof. X) to the world inside the computer it all looked good. I also liked how they used 3D for the computer world and 2D for ours. They used the 3D as a part of the movie not as an extra to make it look cool, it maybe the best use of 3D I have seen. It did keep to the feel of Tron and the acting was fine, but not Michael Sheen and Jeff Bridges best performance. The story it self was good. Olivia Wilde was surprisingly good in it and her short black hair made her look even more attractive that she already was. This movie is also a good movie and like HP a must see.
